The UNHCR Representation In Bulgaria financed and supported the organization of a Round Table on the implementation in 2011 of the "National Programme for Integration of Refugees in Bulgaria (NPIR) 2011 – 2013", which was held on 6 December 2011 ã. (10.00 - 14.00), at Crystal Palace Hotel, Shipka Str., 14, Sofia.
The Round Table gathered representatives of ministries, institutions, NGOs and refugee organization – partners of SAR in the implementation of the NPIR. The Round Table provided an opportunity to share information and experience, discuss opportunities and measures to improve and support the refugees integration in Bulgaria.
The objective of the Round Table is to make an analysis of the implementation of the National Programme for Integration of Refugees in 2011 and the perspectives for 2012.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the State Agency for Refugees with the Council of Ministers and the Bulgarian Council on Refugees and Migrants organized a Thematic Expert Meeting on Acquiring Bulgarian Citizenship by Refugees in Bulgaria, held on 19 October 2011 at the Conference Hall of UNHCR, 19, Denkoglu Str., Sofia.
The meeting provided forum for discussions, sharing of experience and best practices for identification of actions related to acquiring Bulgarian citizenship by refugees in Bulgaria.
Invitation for participation was extended to representatives of state institutions, civil society orgnisations and refugee associations.

The Bulgarian Council on Refugees and Migrants, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the State Agency for Refugees with the Council of Ministers organised Thematic session on Education of Refugees on 13 June 2011, held at the conference hall of UNHCR, Denkoglu 19.
The session was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, Sofia Municipality-Education Directorate, the Regional Inspectorate on Education Sofia-City, the Refugee Migrant Unit at the Bulgarian Red Cross, the Association for Integration of Refugees and Migrants, Caritas-Sofia and others.

The European Integration Forum is a platform of civil society organizations providing opportunity for discussion with European institutions issues, priorities and policy of the EC related to the integration of migrants.

The Bulgarian Council on Refugees and Migrants held its general annual meeting on 31 March 2011. The Agenda included a narrative report of BCRM activities in 2010, financial report covering the same period, and Plan of Work for 2011.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the State Agency for Refugees with the Council of Ministers and the Bulgarian Council on Refugees and Migrants organized a two-day Advocacy Workshop on issues related to resettlement of refugees, as well as the role of Bulgaria in working up a joint EC refugee resettlement programme. The meeting was held on 22-23 March 2011 at Grand Hotel Sofia, Triaditsa Hall.
Ms. Caroline Spanuth Verma of UNHCR HQ in Geneva, and Ms. Nancy Polutan of the Regional UNHCR Office in Budapest shared their experience related to global tendencies and challenges of the process of resettlement, reception and integration of refugees.
Representatives of state institutions, NGOs and refugee associations took part in the meeting.

The meeting was held on 26 October 2010 in Grand Hotel Sofia, and was attended by the Ambassador of Spain H.E. Jorge Fuentes Monzonis-Vilallonga and the Ambassador of Hungary, H.E. Judit Lang, officials of the Belgian and Dutch Embassies respectively Ms.Katherine Raeymaekers and Mr.Andri van Mens, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the National Assembly, NGOs.

The Bulgarian Council on Refugees and Migrants and the Dutch Council for Refugees organized on 21 September 2010 an international closing conference to mark the official completion of the project Safeguarding Refugee Protection in Bulgaria, financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands under the Programme for Social Transformation (MATRA). The project was implemented by the Bulgarian Council on Refugees and Migrants in cooperation with the Dutch Refugee Council from June 2008 - September 2010.
The conference was held in Hotel Arena di Serdika, Sofia and was attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Sofia H.E.Mr Karel van Kesteren, Ms. Trees Wijn-Maatman and Ms. Els Backx of the Dutch Council for Refugees, representatives of the State Agency for Refugees, relevant state institutions, refugee assisting NGOs, refugee associations.

The Bulgarian Council on Refugees and Migrants and the Dutch Council for Refugees organized Project Formulation Workshop under project “Safeguarding Refugee Protection in Bulgaria”, financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MATRA Programme. The training was provided by Dieuwerke Luiten, international project manager of the Dutch Council for Refugees. The workshop took place at Kopitoto, Vitosha on 20-21 May 2010.
The event was attended by senior experts of member organization of the BCRM.

The Bulgarian Council for Refugees and Migrants organised Financial Management, Fundraising and Budgeting Training on 6-7 October 2009 at the Bulgarian Red Cross Training Centre in Lozen.
The training will be attended by 14 participants of the member organisations of BCRM and other Bulgarian refugee assisting non-governmental organisations. It is a part of a number of trainings and workshops aiming the further improvement of the organisations’ capacity under project “Safeguarding Refugee Protection in Bulgaria”, financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MATRA Programme. The training was held by Dennis Philippi and Dieuwerke Luiten, Ducth Council of Refugees.

Project Development Training on 18-19 June 2009 will be held at the Training Center of the Bulgarian Red Cross in Lozen.
It will be attended by 12 NGO participants from Bulgarian refugee-assisting organisations. The training is an integral part of the set of trainings and workshops that aims to increase the fundraising capacity of the Council and its members under the Project “Safeguarding Refugee Protection in Bulgaria, financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under MATRA Programme. The training will be provided by Dieuwerke Luiten, international project manager of the Dutch Council for Refugeesc with extensive knowledge about project development. The main topics that will be discussed during the training are project development, budget development and project organisation. The skills acquired during this training will enable the NGO participants to formulate project proposals. The training will have a ‘Training the Trainers’ element that will enable the participants to pass on their skills and expertise.
